Smokey Robinson’s Seafood Gumbo and this week’s thoughts

There are two reasons for this post, one of which is that I have a Ganglion Cyst inside my right wrist (I’m right handed) and have next to no movement available. Plus it hurts like a demon 24 hours a day. So, I won’t be up and about much for a week or so.
And the second reason is, “take a look at that creepy image of Smokey!”
That’s just plain wrong and I want to thank Meathead for noticing it in our local Safeway and allowing me to make fun of his lunch today.

We all probably have a very good idea of how this tastes, yup just like that. We’ve definately had worse though, much worse. Such as those individually wrapped microwavable cheese burgers or microwavable deep fried cheese sticks. “Take a look at that creepy image of Smokey! That’s just wrong.”

  1. Let’s face it Biggles. Gout. Cysts. Red hair. Dude, you’re a wreck!
But still, I’m sending my best new-agey healing thoughts your way.
    Here’s to a speedy recovery!

  2. Oh, and looking at the photo, at least you had an A&W cream soda to save the day.
Weinharts makes a good cream soda.
And Thomas Kemper Ginger Ale is DOPE.

  3. Hey Princess,
    I like yours better.
I ran in to Annette Funicello the same damned way, but she was flogging someone’s sketti sauce. Even had the big mickey mouse watch that Avalon gave her. Scary. I have an autographed picture somewheres.

  4. I have a ganglia too!! Only mine is one the outside of my left wrist, so by the end of a day click-clacking away on this stupid keyboard, my wrist is THROBBING with pain.
Sucks big time. Really. I feel your pain.

  5. Fatemeh: Of course you feel his pain! ๐Ÿ™‚
We should start an aches-and-pains blog. Mine’s feet ‘n’ hips. (‘Least I can still cook and type. And eat.)

  6. Mmmm… Gumbo and cysts.
“…So baby, take a good look at my lunch,
You’ll see my grimace as I bend down and hunch,
If I was smart I’d have skipped Smokey to munch
    on fritos and beer.”

  7. Mr. Biggles,
Man that picture of smokey is wrong, wrong wrong, typically the lunch looked that way too! Musta been the picture.
Speaking of crepinettes, in Paris I had a deboned ham hock encased in a crepinette that was grilled and smothered with hollandaise with what else pomme frittes.

  8. You’re right about the picture….but if you think the picture is bad have you tasted that AWFUL gumbo. I bought some in California in 2005 and was surprised to find they had shrimp that small. The entire thing was HORRIBLE.
