Today’s inspiration comes again, from beans. Am attempting to come up with a recipe for a green chile bean dish.

  1. Well, that totally didn’t work out. Simmered up some peruano beans in chicken broth, green chiles, onion, garlic, toasted tomatillos and a little cumin seeds. After a few hours, tossed in some calabrese sausage. Oh man, that was the WRONG thing to do. The beans took on the flavor of the calabrese and all the subtleties went away forever. Bad Biggles!

  2. Whoops — mixed cultures. Calabrese, while it is a hot sausage, ain’t Latino flavored enough for those other ingredients. But, as I always tell my kids, we learn by doing. The premise was right!
    Next time: I predict success.
